I Wear Multifocal Glasses, Can I Wear Contact Lenses?

April 26, 2022

Those who have worn contact lenses for correction of their distance vision often give up on contacts when they start to need reading glasses too, but now you don’t have to.

Most people are unaware that, just like spectacle lenses, there are multifocal contact lens options as well!

Instead of just having one power in the lens, multifocal contacts have multiple powers for  eye to access to enable you to see everything in your day. In this way they can correct both your distance and near vision at the same time.

For those who have never worn contact lenses before, multifocal lenses can give you freedom for activities in your life that glasses get in the way. For example: activities such as going to the gym, skiing, swimming, or sports (especially ball sports and contact sports). Even just being able to have a night out, without your glasses on, and still being able to read the menu at dinner.

Each contact lens company generally have their own designs for multifocal contact lenses. Our Optometrists keep up to date with the latest lens designs so they can help you find a lens to suit your vision and your lifestyle.
